Description
In contrast to the previous class, which dealt primarily with embroidery, this class will focus on weaving and quilts, looking at how they moved from the realm of “craft” to being taken seriously in the art world. Among other topics it will include women’s weaving at the Bauhaus and beyond, with a focus on Anni Albers, and quilting, including Gee’s Bend quilters, as well as the work of contemporary fiber artists.
