Description

This 3-session class will look at the way Homer witnessed the changing face of America ,beginning with his work as an illustrator and his coverage of the Civil War for Harper’s Weekly. In his paintings of the 1870s his subjects included children and former slaves as he reflected on new directions for the country. His later paintings focused on the struggle of man and nature including fishermen and many views of the coast of Maine.  Class is given via Zoom. You must have a computer/tablet/phone with audio and video capability.
