Before the rise of Hitler … the name Rasputin was synonymous with evil. Rasputin acted as a healer for Alexei, the Tsar and his wife Alexandra’s only son, who suffered from hemophilia. Historians often suggest that Rasputin’s terrible reputation helped discredit the tsarist government, and thus helped precipitate the overthrow of the Romanov dynasty, which happened a few weeks after he was assassinated. Perhaps more than any other man in modern history, Rasputin has been obscured by legend, innuendo, and propaganda. The course is taught via Zoom. You must have a computer/tablet/phone with microphone and video capability.
