Description

This beginning class is designed as a comfortable introduction to, or review of, the fundamentals of music:  clefs, notes, rests, sharps, flats, and other symbols, rhythm, counting, simple time signatures, major and minor key signatures, major and minor scales, basic intervals, and triads.  The companion text includes concise explanations as well as exercises to check your progress.  We will put theory into practice by analyzing musical examples from the text and in class. Come discover how music is put together in an enjoyable group setting.   Text used is “Music theory in 30 Days:  The Beginner’s Guide to How Music Works” by Matthew Ellul.
