Americans think they know plenty of history….or do they?  They know that the Pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock, Teddy Roosevelt charged up San Juan Hill, Columbus discovered the world is round and Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin.  The punchline of course is Americans know all these things but none of them are true.  Pilgrims never lived in log cabins, a third of all babies were born out of wedlock, the Liberty Bell was so little regarded that it was almost sold for scrap, there was no evidence that anyone ever died in a gunfight at high noon….and many more.
