Claudius is an intriguing person to have become a Roman emperor (at the time, the most powerful individual in Europe). He rises to the occasion despite being beset with disabilities—both physical and mental. Vet, he never takes revenge against those who tormented him as a young man. With no experience in political or military life, he conquered Britain, revised the rules for the senate, and created several public works for the benefit of all the people. Some of which still stand.
