I love Steve Sondheim. That’s it, plain and simple. I love his music. I love his lyrics, I love his shows. And, why not, the man was a genius who transformed the Broadway stage. Sondheim was the most innovative, most influential, most important composer and lyricist in modern Broadway history. As you probably know, Steve Sondheim passed away last November. In this class we’ll attempt to look at his life – his early years, his work habits and, of course, we’ll watch some Sondheim. That’s the best part. For devotees, it’s a chance to celebrate Sondheim, share some reminiscences. For those not familiar with him, it’s a chance to learn what the adoration is all about.
