A lot has happened since Donald Trump rose to prominence and the presidency. In this class we’ll take a look at religion in the Trump era. The changes have been significant – from Supreme Court rulings. to Jan 6, to the decline in church membership. Some are directly related to Trump, some indirectly and some not at all. Why do some on the political right believe they are “under siege”. We’ll look at it all, with a special emphasis on Christian Nationalism (is it a threat to democracy?). The 2024 election is upon us and religion is likely to play a major rule. Hopefully this class will give us some insight into what’s likely to happen and after the election, what did happen.
