Description
Walker Evans “American Photographs” in 1938 at the Museum of Modern Art was the first solo exhibition of a photographer in an art museum. Some of these images stemmed from the work he, along with other photographers such as Dorothea Lange, had done for the Farm Security Administration. Other photographers, including Edward Weston and Ansel Adams, who belonged to the group f/64, advocated for straight photography as an art form.
