Description

Intermediate Music Theory uses the building blocks of Beginning Music Theory, as we explore more complex rhythms, compound time signatures, double sharps, double flats, movable C clefs, modes and other scales, seventh chords, inversions, tonality, figured bass, Roman numerals, transposition, and lead sheets.  Participants should have a working knowledge of the topics in Beginning Music Theory, which is approximately the first 105 pages of the companion text.  We will put theory into practice by analyzing musical examples from the text and in class. Come expand your knowledge of music fundamentals, and explore together these exciting constructs. Text used is “Music theory in 30 Days:  The Beginner’s Guide to How Music Works” by Matthew Ellul.
