Description

Katharine Graham – what a woman. Maybe the most powerful woman in the world during the second half of the last century, Kay played an important role in two of the most important events of the period – Watergate and the Pentagon Papers.  But there was so much more, building the Washington Post into a powerhouse newspaper, taking on presidents and unions, dozens of  interesting friends (Warren Buffet, Bob McNamara). You’ll enjoy learning about this interesting and powerful woman. While we’re in Washington visiting Kay, let’s have dinner with her and her friends from the Georgetown Set.  In the years after WW ll, Sunday night dinner in a few square blocks of Georgetown was where the movers and shakers dined. Regardless of party, the powerful, the likes of spies (Allen Dulles), journalists (Joseph Alsop), and diplomats (Henry Kissinger)  and Jack & Jackie all met for dinner, formulated  policy and read about it in the newspapers the next day. If you’ve heard about the “Establishment”, this was it.
