Americans have been involved with Afghanistan since 1828 when an lone American would lead an army into the country and be declared Prince of Ghor in 1838. His descendant, the current Prince currently lines in Los Angeles. His life would lead Rudyard Kipling to write, The Man Who Would Be King in 1888.
