The Tax War of Three Kingdoms. Taxes can set people to fighting in almost any age, but combine that with religion and you got a bloody war that can last for years. The war ended up a series of civil wars and political machinations between Parliament and King Charles, mainly over the manner of England’s taxes and issues of religious freedom. In the end, it would cost King Charles his head but would create a military dictator, Oliver Cromwell.
