‘The United States is a Christian nation.’ ‘The greatest threat to American democracy is Christian nationalism’. Those are a couple of explosive statements. Are either true? What is Christian Nationalism anyway? One thing for sure – it’s a hot topic. In this class we’ll take a look at the veracity of these claims. Along the way, we’ll examine the relevant terms (patriotism, nationalism etc) and the arguments of proponents for both sides. Come prepared for a spirted yet respectful discussion.
