From his dark and turbulent early images to the late paintings that inspired the Cubists, Cézanne produced distinctive works. Impressionism provided him with new techniques and the on-going ambition to “realize his sensations.” This three-session class will look at questions of interpreting his early work, stylistic changes as he engaged with his Impressionist colleagues, and ways in which his late paintings can be understood.
