Description

This course will be a comprehensive review of the current era in modern history (from 1914 to the present) in an attempt to understand how this period connects together and results in the world we live in today. The course will first review the key developments prior to 1914 that were vital in shaping the events to come. The course will cover the defining events of the last century – World War I, the interwar years, World War II, the Cold War, and the years since the Cold War and how all these events are tied together and occurred on the basis of the continuity of history. This review will consider the political, economic and military factors that impacted events. In the final session of this course, approximately half of the time will be devoted to an open discussion with the class on what the future may hold based on an understanding of the past century.
